Within the Tourism
Industry, we rarely have the time or the
resources to send employees away for days of
formal training, so the bulk of our training
takes place at work and involves a lot of
one-on-one training. The workplace trainer
needs the skills to uncover the wealth of
knowledge that is in each employee and to
assess the most effective method to ensure
the trainee learns what needs to be learned.
The goal of Train the Trainer is to provide
trainers with an understanding of adult
education principles, plus provide
information about and opportunities to
practice training and coaching skills. As
trainers and coaches, you have a very
important role. This two-day workshop aims to
teach you how people learn, how to plan for
training, what the six steps of skill
training are and how to use them and how to
effectively deliver training in both
one-on-one and group situations.
We can all probably list the times that
we've found ourselves disinterested,
disillusioned or almost asleep in meetings or
workshops. Even though the content may be
interesting, or critical to your work, it is
difficult to maintain interest or make the
learning stick unless you are involved in the
learning process.
While deciding what to train is important,
deciding how to train it is equally
important. In addition, training with
creativity and pizzazz is important in making
sure that your training efforts are effective
for you and your learners. This workshop is
designed to provide you with practical
insights, knowledge and techniques to make
your on-the-job training easier.
By the end of this workshop you will
understand:
- the importance of training and how
standards and certification can assist you
with on-the-job training
- how adults learn and how application of
this knowledge can help you to plan and
deliver effective training sessions
- the importance of and how to plan for
training
- how to deliver training
effectively
- how effective coaching, feedback and
recognition will reinforce your training
efforts and the learner's performance
